Bend the rod downward slightly so that the ball rides lower in the tank. If this does not cure the trouble, you may need to replace the shutoff valve assembly.

Another solution is to cover the inside of the tank with a liner, such as foam rubber padding. The purpose of the liner is to keep the water from making contact with the inner surface of the tank.

Finally, you can buy a toilet cover. This consists of a cloth material which fits over the top of the tank and also covers the remainder of the tank. The toilet cover set does not hinder lifting of the tank top. It insulates the tank from the air, and any condensation that does occur is absorbed by the cloth.
